Review Of The Year

2010 was one of the closest F1 battles ever, with 5 drivers fighting to the bitter end. Sebastian Vettel eventually claimed the official championship, with three wins out of the last four races. He beat of the charges of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and his team mate Mark Webber in the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

The F1 Rankings had an eventful year as well. The season had charges from certain drivers, while others fell quite far. At the end of 2009, Lewis Hamilton was Number 1, with Kimi Raikkonen second, and Felipe Massa third. Throughout the first half of the season the gap between 1st and 5th shrunk massively. From a 1049 points difference to a 714 points difference in June.

The main jumper at the top of the rankings was Sebastian Vettel. In March, he was 5th 957 points, and he ended up with 1844 points, just 15 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton. Other jumpers included Mark Webber, and Jenson Button, finishing 3rd and 6th in the end-of-year rankings.

The year also had the fallers. The main two from the top were Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. Kimi, understandably, lost alot of ranking points due to missing 2010, and Felipe lost points due to one of his poorest seasons. Back at Bahrain, Kimi And Massa occupied 2nd and 3rd in the rankings. However, by Abu Dhabi, Felipe Massa had slipped to 5th losing 434 points last year, and Kimi slipped to 7th.

Two constant drivers in 2010 were Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Both finished in the their starting positions, Lewis staying on top all year, and Fernando starting and finishing in 4th.
