New Rankings Review

As we near half way in the season, it looks as if Sebastian Vettel is going to keep the Number One spot for some time to come. However, things are starting to close up behind him.

Alonso vs Hamilton
At the moment, the results between these two have been fairly equal. However, after a strong British GP, Fernando Alonso has closed the gap slightly to Lewis Hamilton. The gap is now a minor 36 points, which could be gained at the next GP in Germany. Things are also looking promising for the Spaniard with Ferrari looking to build on their first win of 2011.

Newbies Coming Through
2011 has seen a strong line-up of new drivers. Paul Di Resta, Sergio Perez, Pastor Maldonado & Jerome D'Ambrosio have all impressed at some part of the year. Paul has constantly been competing, and some times beating, his teammate Adrian Sutil. Rumours to Mercedes have not stopped the young Scot to having a fantastic year. On current form, Paul should break into the top 20 at some point this year.
Another driver under constant rumours is Sergio Perez. With people lining him up with a possible Ferrari seat, Sergio has been driving to great consistent GPs. It will be a while before people will forget his great drive at the Australian GP, even if it was taken away from him.
Pastor & Jerome have also done well. They may not be in strong cars like the other two, but both have done respectful jobs against strong teammates.
