Driver Of The Year - 1st

We have now come to First Place in our Driver Of The Year Award. The winner is .......

1st - Sebastian Vettel
Team - Red Bull   Races - 19   Best Finish - 1st (x11)
11 race wins, 17 podiums, 15 pole positions, 3 fastest laps. These are the statistics of Sebastian Vettel, the man who has run away with this years Drivers World Championship.

He now holds the F1 records of
 - Most points collected, in a single season.
 - Most starts from the front row, in a single season.
 - Most pole positions, in a single season.
 - Most laps lead, in a single season.
 - Most wins from Pole Position, in a single season.

These really do highlight that Sebastian has had a special year in F1. Never has a driver dominated F1 so much, not since another German went on a long stretch of World Championships. The question is, how close can Vettel get to those Schumacher records. He, arguably, has a harder field to face. Next year there will be six former World Champions, all who will be keen to add to their trophy room. The key to any future success for Sebastian has to be his qualifying 15 pole positions show that he is the fastest man in one lap. His speed isn't affected by track style either, with poles and victories at Monaco, Italy and India. Many believe he has the ability to battle for maybe the next 10 or so World Championships. At 24 years old though, surely he could go on for 15, or 20 years? If so, his competitors have to be worried, for we may see this guy winning for some time.
